The Red Sox surge over the weekend helped them retain the best record in the American League, and the third best record in all of Major League Baseball. On Sunday the Red Sox used the long ball to power their way past the Los Angeles Angels, taking the rubber game of the series and winning the series. Here are the 3 stars of the game.
Star 3: Jacoby Ellsbury
Ellsbury had a good game in the last game of the sereis, going 1-4 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored. He hit a triple, his sixth of the year in the 4th inning. His RBI brought his total to 21 on the season.
Star 2: David Ortiz
Ortiz again had a monster game for the Sox, he has been playing like a man possessed ever since he came back from the DL earlier this year. On Sunday he went 2-4 with 3 RBI's and 2 runs cored. He hit his 13th home run of the year, a 3 run shot in the 3rd inning. He has an outstanding 48 RBI's and honestly is blowing my mind on how well he is playing.
Star 1: Jarrod Saltalmacchia
Salty had an amazing day at the plate going 2-4 with 2 runs scored and 4 RBI's. Hw hit 2 home runs, numbers 7 and 8 on the year. One was in the 6th inning a solo shot, and then again in the 7th inning with 2 runners already on base.
The Red Sox power is playing great lately. Their long ball offense is powering the team to many wins. They seem to be on a roll lately and dont show any signs of slowing down.
