David Ortiz may have gotten a late start on the season, but he certainly came back hot. Leading the team in home runs (15) and RBIs (54), he’s a huge producer for the Red Sox offense. And everyone else is noticing that too.

Papi is leading the league for the designated hitter spot on the All-Star ballot by a huge margin. The last count of the votes, according to MLB.com, has Papi at 3,247,462 votes, more than double the next highest total from Lance Berkman of the Rangers, who has 1,519,503 votes. If Ortiz is selected, it will be his ninth All-Star title in 11 seasons with the Sox.

At this point in the race, the only other Sock who seems to have a shot at being an All-Star is Dustin Pedroia, who trails Robinson Cano by a little less than one million votes for the second base spot.

Voting for the All-Star team is open until July 4 at 11:59 p.m. ET, and the roster will be revealed on July 6 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
