Red Sox Nation is fully aware of the fact that the Sox are sitting pretty in first place within the AL East. They also recognize that this team has the best record in the American League (39-25). What many may not know is that this Red Sox team - and it's players - are coming down with Stanley Cup fever just like the rest of us.
How could anyone resist the compelling, exciting and lovable characters that make up this year's Boston Bruins team? They came back from a 4-1 deficit in the third period in a game 7 to win in overtime, they made the Rangers look like a basement level NHL team, and they swept the Pittsburgh Penguins. THE PITTSBURGH PENGUINS - the NHL's equivalent of the Miami Heat.
As the Bruins move towards game one of the Stanley Cup finals it seems like everyone is getting into the hockey spirit in Boston - including some Red Sox players.
Jonny's excited for the Cup. @nhlbruins hats all around on the way to the team charter. twitpic.com/cwd3t1Holy crap, is that Shawn Thornton? No, no it's Red Sox outfielder and part-time Bruins fanboy Jonny Gomes showing off his Bruins swag like he's walking down a Paris runway - much like former Red Sox captain Jason Varitek. And let's not forget about that intense playoff beard Mr. Gomes is rocking. Slick and sick Jonny, slick and sick.

Let's hope this translates into a one-way ticket to Boston for Lord Stanley's cup.
