The Buchholz Watch: Day 59

Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz threw a bullpen session today in Houston. While encouraging, the injured righty is still not ready to pitch in a game.

In related news the Earth is round, puppies are cute and Mike Napoli has never seen a pitch he wouldn’t swing at.

Buchholz threw 27 pitches from the mound and described the session as “night and day” compared to the last time he threw back in July. Buchholz said, "I'm not really sure how long it's going to take, but I'm on my way."

Manager John Farrell has stated there is no timetable for Buchholz's return, but will throw another bullpen Friday in Kansas City.

Cautious Clay has not pitched since June 8. After today's session, Buchholz was then rolled in bubble wrap and placed in a box marked "fragile".
