Before kicking off their final road trip of the season, the Red Sox veterans had a little fun at the rookies expense.
It was "dress-up day" at Fenway Park. As the rookies returned to their lockers after the Sox 5-2 win, they found their street clothes had been replaced with Scottish kilts and hats.
After putting them on – Steven Wright tried to wear a white undershirt but was ordered to take it off – Wright, Brandon Workman, Drake Britton, Ryan Lavarnway, Allen Webster and Xander Bogaerts then had to join the veterans on the field for the Picnic in the Park.
A bagpiper was brought in to complete the theme.
The Red Sox close out the regular season this week with two games at Colorado before a final series at Baltimore Friday-Sunday.
Then it's a return to the playoffs for the first time since 2009. No word on if the rookies will have to dress up for that "special occasion" or not.
