Game 6. Tonight - Fenway Park, 8:07 first pitch. BE THERE. But, seriously. I hope all you Red Sox Lifer's are excited as I am to see a possible clinching game. Now, let's get down to business. I'll tell you which 3 players will stand out as the 3 stars of this game. Let me be clear, though. If we win, it'll be a team effort, but I'll tell you who I think will stand out from the pack.
John Lackey: He's been feeling good in his past 2 starts, where he went toe-to-toe with Justin Verlander and Michael Wacha in 2 brilliant performances. His start against Verlander ended in a 1-0 win and it was only bad luck (at least from his point of view) that prevented him beating Michael Wacha. But the point is, I foresee a repeat of his 2 previous starts and he'll be brilliant. Take a bow, John Lackey.
David Ortiz: I think David Ortiz continues his hot hitting and delivers an epic deathblow to the Cardinals that you will swear came from the hammer of the gods. He's been hotter than a summer day in Florida, but he hasn't really come up with a clutch hit yet, but that changes tonight and he'll come up with a big double or home run tonight. Most of you Red Sox Lifer's (me included) have already christened Big Papi MVP and I think he does something tonight to earn it.
Stephen Drew...Ok, that was a joke. He'll play great defense, which can't be understated, but that's as far as it goes.
Xander Bogaerts: This is not a joke. He's been terrific since taking over at 3rd. I think he'll continue that and come up with a big hit tonight against Michael Wacha. Not to mention he's been good defensively. I'm predicting Xander will come up with a highlight-worthy play as well.
