The 2013 world champion Boston Red Sox were honored with a parade through the streets of Boston Saturday. The parade started at Fenway Park and stopped at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, where Jonny Gomes placed a "Boston Strong" jersey over the world series trophy in tribute to the victims of the deadly bombing attacks in April.

Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia told the crowd,

"We played for the whole city, what the city went through. Hopefully, we put a smile on ... everybody’s face. It was special. We wanted to do this and make it right for everybody.”
