Recap - Sox, Peavy beat up on Jays, Buehrle

The Red Sox pounded out 16 hits and received 7 outstanding innings from Jake Peavy as they beat up on the Toronto Blue Jays 8-1 in the opening game of their weekend series at the Rogers Centre.

Every Boston starter had a base hit including A.J. Pierzynski and Jackie Bradley Jr. who had 3 hits each. Dustin Pedroia, Mike Napoli, and Will Middlebrooks each had 2 hits. With Shane Victorino back Thursday night and Middlebrooks this evening, the Red Sox had their starting 8 on the field for the first time in 2014.

Mark Buehrle suffered his first loss of the season allowing 7 runs on 12 hits and 3 walks in 5.1 innings. He served up David Ortiz's 5th home run of the season in the top of the 3rd.

Peavy picked up his 1st win of the season giving up 1 run on 5 hits. He walked just 2 and struck out 7.
