Bud Norris held the Red Sox to just 3 hits over 8 innings and the Orioles slammed three home runs as Baltimore beat Boston 4-0 in the opener of their 3-game series at Camden Yards.

Baltimore took an early 1-0 lead on an Adam Jones home run in the bottom of the first inning off Red Sox starter Jake Peavy. Nick Markakis took Peavy deep in the fifth inning to increase the Oriole lead to 3-0. Ryan Flaherty added an insurance run with a solo home run in the seventh.

Peavy was charged with 4 runs on 8 hits and a walk while striking out 7. His record fell to 1-4 with the loss.

Grady Sizemore started in centerfield over the slumping Jackie Bradley, Jr. Stephen Drew was out with what was said to be right oblique discomfort.
