After having his first home run of the season on Sunday's loss to the Orioles, Mike Napoli is out of the lineup for the second straight game. The first baseman missed Monday game with illness and Daniel Nava filled his spot.
Mike Napoli is expected to be out for at least a couple of days. It seems that his illness is nothing serious since it's not going to require hospital attention, but Farrell said that "he's contagious so we've got to be careful about exposure".
The first baseman had a hot Spring Training, leading the Red Sox with 6 home runs and a .400 batting average, but he's having a cold April hitting .169 with two multi-hit games in his last five.
