On a night when the Red Sox desperately needed a starter to give them length, Clay Buchholz (pictured) went 6 innings allowing just 1 run on 2 hits and 3 walks while striking out 10.

Boston and Tampa Bay traded runs in the 2nd inning. Daniel Nava gave the Red Sox a brief 1-0 lead with a sacrifice fly that drove in Pablo Sandoval. The Rays answered back in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single by Logan Forsythe.
