Can a pitcher sue for lack of support?

Masahiro Tanaka shut the Red Sox out in a complete game performance as the Yankees blanked Boston 3-0 at Fenway Park on Thursday night.

Chris Sale (pictured) - once again - received no support from his offense. He pitched into the ninth inning allowing a run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly and another on an RBI double by Matt Holliday in the ninth.

Heath Hembree allowed one inherited runner to score in relief of Sale.

Tanaka, who came into the game with a 6.00 ERA, did not walk a batter and allowed just three hits, two of them by Hanley Ramirez.

Dustin Pedroia returned to the Boston lineup for the first time since being spiked by Manny Machado over the weekend; he went 0-for-4.
