Hector Velazquez would probably like a do-over.
The rookie right-hander allowed three home runs in his major league debut as the Red Sox fell to the Athletics 8-3 on Thursday evening at the Coliseum.
Velazquez (pictured) allowed six runs in five innings of work on nine hits. He walked two and struck out four.
Boston reached Sonny Gray for a pair of runs in the top of the first inning on an RBI single by Hanley Ramirez and a sacrifice fly by Chris Young.
Dustin Pedroia had two of the Red Sox' six hits. Andrew Benintendi, mired in an O-for-26 slump, was out of the lineup.
