Xander Bogaerts' 12th error of the season in the top of the eighth inning was followed by three singles and a triple as the Royals rallied for four runs in the inning to defeat the Red Sox 5-3 at Fenway Park on Sunday.
Matt Barnes (pictured) took the loss in relief, failing to retire a batter. Robby Scott didn't help much, allowing a pair of inherited runners to score.
Drew Pomeranz started for Boston and left with two outs in the top of the seventh inning. He allowed one run on seven hits and a walk while striking out four.
Hanley Ramirez, Mitch Moreland and Christian Vazquez each had two hits for Boston. Rafael Devers hit his second career home run in the fifth.
