If today's version of the Red Sox offense shows up in the playoffs....
Alex Cobb held Boston to one run on four hits over five innings as Tampa Bay beat the Red Sox 4-1 Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park.
Rick Porcello (pictured) took the loss, pretty much pitching just well enough to lose, especially considering the lack of offense. He allowed just two runs on five hits over five innings. He struck out four and walked three.
Boston took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a Christian Vazquez RBI single. Vazquez was thrown out at the plate later in the inning although replay appeared to show him to be safe.
The Rays took the lead with two runs in the fifth off Porcello and then scored single runs in the sixth and seventh.
