We're on to 2018.
Of course no one in the Red Sox organization is going to say that yet, but the sad reality is that Boston's American League Division Series with the Astros is for all intents and purposes finished.
Seventeen game winner Drew Pomeranz lasted just two-plus innings as Houston knocked off the Red Sox 8-2 at Minute Maid Park in Game Two of the ALDS.
Carlos Correa took Pomeranz deep in the first inning to give the Astros a 2-0 lead.
Jackie Bradley Jr. cut the lead in half in the second with an RBI single in the second. He drove in the other Boston run with a single in the ninth.
Houston knocked Pomeranz (pictured) out of the game in the bottom of the third on a solo home run by George Springer, a double by Alex Bregman and a run-scoring single by Jose Altuve.
The Astros pulled away with a four-run sixth. Correa added to the damage with a two-run double and Evan Gattis added an RBI single.
The Red Sox were held to seven hits in the loss and now turn to Doug Fister in Game Three in an attempt to stave off elimination.
At least the Patriots got back in the win column last night.
