Recap - Sox Power Their Way To Split With Astros

The Red Sox got home runs from Mitch Moreland and Andrew Benintendi, and Brock Holt drove in three runs as Boston beat the Astros 9-3 Sunday night for a split of the four-game series.

Rick Porcello (pictured) went 6/1 innings for his eighth win of the year which is tied for the American League lead. He allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out five.

Moreland's 10th home run of the year in the first inning gave the Sox a 2-0 lead. George Springer hit a solo shot in the bottom of the inning to cut the Boston lead in half before Benintendi's home run made it 3-1.

Holt upped the score to 5-1 in the top of the sixth with a two-run triple and came in on a Blake Swihart single.

Houston plated two in the seventh to make it 6-3 before Holt singled in another run in the eighth. Sam Travis finished the scoring with an RBI single in the ninth.

Matt Barnes threw 1.2 innings of scoreless relief, followed by Heath Hembree who issued a pair of two-out walks in the ninth before getting Jose Altuve to fly out to end the game.
