Mookie Betts hit for the cycle but Red Sox starter Rick Porcello couldn't get through the fifth inning as the Blue Jays finished off Boston 8-5 at the Rogers Centre Thursday night. The loss snapped a six-game winning streak.
Betts's four hits led the team, followed by Eduardo Nunez with three. J.D. Martinez hit his league-leading 35th home run of the year.
Porcello struggled from the start, walking the first two Blue Jays he faced who both came in to score in the bottom of the first inning. He was eventually removed in the bottom of the fifth inning after allowing a single, double and home run to the first three batters in the inning. All seven runs Porcello allowed were earned.
The Red Sox travel to Baltimore for a four-game weekend series against the Orioles beginning Friday night.
