Steve Pearce had three hits and drove in an equal number of runs to back five strong innings by Rick Porcello as the Red Sox beat Atlanta 5-1 Tuesday night.
Porcello did more than just pitch - his single leading off the top of the fifth inning started a three-run rally that erased an early 1-0 Braves lead.
Xander Bogaerts drew a bases-loaded walk to score the first run, followed by an RBI single by Pearce (pictured) and a run-scoring ground out by Eduardo Nunez.
Pearce drove in two more with a single an inning later.
Porcello scattered two hits and walked one while striking out five as he improved to 16-7 on the season. Steven Wright, Joe Kelly, Ryan Brasier and Heath Hembree comined for four scoreless innings of relief.
