The team announced Thursday that Dustin Pedroia has been placed on the 10-day injured list after the second baseman said he felt something pop in his surgically repaired left knee during Wednesday night's game against the Yankees in the Bronx.

Pedroia stayed behind in New York for examinations while the team traveled to Tampa where they will face the first-place Rays in a weekend series. The injury is not considered to be serious at this time.

The Red Sox recalled pitcher Marcus Walden from AAA Pawtucket and are also expected to recall infielder Tzu-Wei Lin as well.

With Brock Holt still not ready to be activated from his recent eye injury, Eduardo Nunez will likely be starting at second base over the weekend.
