Chirinos was perfect through five innings and really only had himself in trouble once - a bases-loaded situation in the sixth that he managed to work out of by striking out Andrew Benintendi and Rafael Devers.

He held the Red Sox to just two hits and a pair of walks.

Boston's lone run came in the ninth on an RBI double by Xander Bogaerts.

Rick Porcello (pictured) took the loss with his record falling to 4-6. He was charged with four runs on eight hits and one walk over six innings.

Bogaerts had two of Boston's four hits in the game.

The Red Sox and Rays play a split doubleheader on Saturday.
