The long ball for the early lead.

Small ball for the win.

Rafael Devers (pictured) put Boston up 3-0 with one swing in the bottom of the third inning, and the Sox would tack on two more in the 5-run frame.

The Rays bullpen managed to slow things down, long enough to give their offense a chance to claw away at the lead.

Eduardo Rodriguez gave Boston five solid innings, allowing two runs on three hits. He struck out six and didn't walk anyone before turning things over to the bullpen.

Credit Garrett Whitlock with the win after throwing two scoreless innings.

In the ninth, Christian Vazquez snuck a single to left and then was sacrificed to second by Christian Arroyo. Travis Shaw reached on an error, setting the stage for Kike Hernandez to lift a sacrifice fly to left driving home pinch runner Danny Santana.

Up next, the winner of the Houston/Chicago series.
