Offseason Numbers May Inflate the Garza Market

Ma
tt Garza peaks at the right time. Maybe he should run for office.

What price do you put on clutch?

Matt Garza may be getting better. His ERA has improved nearly every year, last year's 3.32 being his best.

But his record was 10-10. I know we don't count wins and losses like we used to. But tell that to Mr. Verlander.

Garza's career won-loss record is 52-54. Three of those years were with Tampa, a contending team.

But then you have to look at his postseason numbers. It's four games total, 2-1 overall, but 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA in the 2008 ALCS.

He wouldn't be the first guy to capitalize on a great offseason. Just ask Derek Lowe.
