At Least the Jimmy Fund Had A Good Night

This one can be summed up in six words - Clay Buchholz simply didn't have it. After having gone 3-0 with a 1.53 ERA in his last 6 starts, Buchholz (pictured) gave up 7 runs on 12 hits and 1 walk in 5.1 innings in a 7-3 Red Sox loss to the Angels at Fenway Park.

Angels starting pitcher Jered Weaver held Boston to 2 runs; he scattered 7 hits while striking out 5 over 7 innings.

The real lone offensive bright spot for the Red Sox was the 3 hits by Scott Podsednik out of the leadoff position. Ryan Lavarnway and Mike Aviles each had an RBI.

The TRUE bright spot of the night - the Jimmy Fund's annual 2-day fundraising effort raised more than $3 million.
