Beckett and Gonzo Put on Waivers? Only 4 Players Show Up To Pesky's Funeral
MLB Trade Rumors- The Red Sox have placed Adrian Gonzalez on trade waivers, a source tells Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com (via Twitter).
I just stumbled upon this article while reading the comment section of the Espn Rapid Reaction of the Red Sox game. This article states that the Sox have put Gonzalez (pictured left) on trade waivers.
In addition John Heyman of CBS Sports states that the Sox have put Beckett on waivers as well.
I personally think this is a great idea. See if a team is willing to trade for someone who could potentially help them in a World Series run (because we all know the Sox season is over). Although it is kind of a white flag for the Sox, I believe it is the right thing to do. The Sox clearly need to clear house. There are too many bad seeds feeding off each other, and who knows maybe the Red Sox front office having some balls and getting rid of their "star"players one by one will show the players that they aren't screwing around.
All this news comes the same day The Boston Herald states that only 4 players, Ortiz, Buchholz, Padilla and Saltalamacchia showed up to John Pesky's funeral. While nearly the entire team showed up to Beckett's Beckett Bowl hosted on the same night. To add to this dismay the only "player" who attended Pesky's wake (granted the team was in New York during the wake) was Trot Nixon.
What do Red Sox fans think of all this hoopla?
