Alfredo Aceves could be released before March 16th

Alfredo Aceves better get his act together and fast. The troubled right-hander has been the talk of spring training recently and it's not because of his outstanding performances on the mound. Instead Aceves has let his troubled past catch up to him once again, and this time he could be looking at a possible stint on the free-agent market.

CSNNE.com’s Sean McAdams has reported that the Red Sox would owe Aceves $440,000 of his $2.65 million salary if they released him before March 16th. If the Sox were to wait till March 27th to release him then they would awe Aceves $660,000.

After Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington took time to discuss Aceves behavioral issues with his agent Tim O'Connell, I'm sure Aceves will change his tune moving forward. It wouldn't surprise me if Cherington reminded O'Connell that the Red Sox have all the leverage and if Aceves wants to stay with the organization things better change.
