Game 3: 3 Stars of the game

While the Red Sox shot at going 162-0 has taking a little step back the team put up a great fight last night against the Yankees while going for the sweep. I must admit that I was upset seeing them lose a game to the Yankees but then when you think about it the goal of the season is to win series, we just won the opening series of the season against the Yankees in New York. Pretty successful 4 days to start the season off. With the 3 stars of the game its important for me to be fair to both teams, and last night the Yankees had a few stars. Before you go biting off my head let me tell you that its hard for me to write that and even harder to swallow. So with that said here are your three stars of the game:
3rd Star: Will Middlebrooks
Middlebrooks had the best game for a the Red Sox, he went 2-4 at the plate, had an RBI and scored a run. He was patient at the plate seeing 13 pitches over his 4 at bats, which is going to be a key for this team to succeed.
2nd Star: Lyle Overbay
Overbay did the most damage to the Sox last night, his 2 run plating single in the second inning shook up Ryan Dempster who took a little while to recover and get back into the groove. Overbay went 1-3 with 2 RBI's and struck out once.
1st Star: Andy Pettitte
Pettitte was fantastic last night going 8 strong innings and keeping the Red Sox bats quiet for the most part. He gave up 1 run and struck out 3 batters while throwing 94 pitches, 64 of them for strikes. It may be safe to say or at least close to safe to say that Pettitte had the best pitching performance of the series, certainly for the Yankees maybe even better then Lester or Buchholz.
