Red Sox Pregame. July 5 vs Orioles Game 2

Boston, Ma- With the Red Sox coming off a 3-2 walkoff win earlier in the day, they give the ball to John Lackey, who has a 9-5 record with a 3.62 ERA. Although he pitched well in the first game,Jon Lester was denied his tenth win of the season. Lackey doesn't want to be as unlucky, so a win tonight would give him ten wins, which only 5 other American League pitchers have.

For the first place Orioles, struggling Ubaldo Jimenez will toe the rubber with a 3-8 record and a 4.31 ERA. He did pitch very well in his last start versus Texas, going 8 innings and only giving up four hits.
Boston also picked up a 26th man today, which is allowed for double headers. They promoted Tommy Layne from Pawtucket. Tommy has pitched very well as of late for Pawtucket, earning a 1.51 ERA in 30 appearances. According to John Farrell, Layne has pitched with the most success to left handed hitters, so he may be used late in the game to pitch to one lefty batter.

David Ortiz, who missed game one for his daughter's graduation, is back for the night cap.

Here is the starting lineup for the Red Sox:
1) Holt 3B
2) Nava RF
3) Pedroia 2B
4) Ortiz DH
5) Napoli 1B
6) Drew SS
7) Gomes LF
