Even the MVP & Papi Can't Help Wake. Sox Lose 11-10 To Blue Jays.

Seven times Red Sox starter Tim Wakefield has taken the mound in anticipation of career win #200. And seven times now, Tim Wakefield has been unable to walk off the mound with that elusive "W." Despite home runs by Jacoby Ellsbury (25), David Ortiz (29) and Adrian Gonzalez (29), the Red Sox bullpen - see Bard, Daniel - imploded in the bottom of the 8th inning resulting in an 11-10 Toronto Blue Jays victory.

Wakefield pitched 5 innings and was in line for the win with the Sox leading 8-5 at the time. Ellsbury (4-5 with a double, home run and 3 RBI's), Gonzalez, Ortiz and Marco Scutaro each had multiple-hit games.

Daniel Bard had one of the roughest outings of his career charged with 5 runs on 1 hit, 3 walks, and why not throw in a hit batsman? He was also "helped" by a bases-clearing double allowed by Matt Albers.

We'll go through this again five days from now, Red Sox Nation. Get your rest.
