The Swoon Continues - Sox Lose To Orioles 7-5

Yet another night in which a Red Sox starter didn't get deep into the game, and the September To Remember Slide continues. The combination of an Adrian Gonzalez 2-run home run, a pair of doubles by Mike Aviles, and a win by the Yankees weren't enough to help the Red Sox put a little room between themselves and Tampa in the American League Wild Card race.

Boston starting pitcher Erik Bedard only lasted 2.2 innings allowing 4 runs on 5 hits and a pair of walks forcing Tito Francona to dip into the bullpen early - again. With the Red Sox leading 5-4 in the top of the 8th inning, Jonathan Papelbon - brought in for a possible 5-out save in relief of Daniel Bard - gave up a bases-clearing double to Robert Andino and Baltimore came away with a 7-5 win.

The Yankees shut out Tampa 5-0 so the Red Sox lead remains at 2 for the Wild Card.
