Cook to Start Saturday
Scott Lauber reports in the Herald.
All along, the Red Sox realized the value of retaining Aaron Cook to increase the depth of their starting pitching. But as the calendar flipped toward the May 1 opt-out date in Cook’s contract, they lacked a spot in the rotation for him. Then, Josh Beckett threw 126 pitches last Sunday.
If Cook's debut is as good as Middlebrooks's debut, then game on.
(Should I mention that that's kind of a big if? Nah, he's been hot lately ... let's move on.)
