Mauro Gomez tripled in the top of the 9th inning driving home a pair of runs to help power the Red Sox to am 8-5 win over the Blue Jays in Toronto Friday night.
Daisuke Matsuzaka, making what many were saying was his final start in a Red Sox uniform, let loose with a pair of wild pitches in the bottom of the 3rd inning that helped the Blue Jays take a 3-0 lead. He went 5.1 innings allowing 4 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks while striking out 5.
Ryan Lavarnway drove in 4 runs, 3 on his 2nd home run of the season in the top of the 4th inning.
Gomez (pictured) broke a 5-5 tie in the top of the 9th with his 1st triple of the season, driving in a pair of runs.
Chris Carpenter got the win out of the bullpen; Andrew Bailey earned his 3rd save.
Gomez, Jacoby Ellsbury and Daniel Nava each had a pair of hits.
