Middlebrooks and Napoli, Bash Brothers
The middle of the Red Sox projected Opening Day lineup was the difference in last night's 4-3 victory over Team Puerto Rico. Unfortunately the game was not televised -- so we only have the better judgement of Boston's media -- but sometimes using our imagination isn't all that bad.
In the bottom of the 2nd, Will Middlebrooks hit a solo home run that impressed the unimpressionable:
And @middlebrooks just crushed one over the wall in left center. 1-0 #RedSox

WMB with a solo bomb onto the upper deck of the fake monster in left-center. #RedSox 1, PR 0 B2nd. #redsoxtalk

Ball was hit so well the OFs just gave it a courtesy glance. ... Meanwhile, lots of Puerto Rico fans in the yard tonight.

Not to be outdone by his teammate, Mike Napoli joined the action in the 4th:
A sneak preview for a warm summer night at Fenway just happened at JetBlue. Napoli hits a towering shot over the Monster.

Another bomb for Napoli. This one scrapes the stratosphere before landing either in or just over the Monster seats. He'll hit 80 at Fenway.

Napoli with a solo bomb onto the upper deck of the fake monster in LF. Went about 800 feet high. PR 3, #RedSox 2. #redsoxtalk

They may not be Mark McGwire and Jose Canseco, but lefty pitchers beware: Will Middlebrooks and Mike Napoli are two Bash Brothers you don't want to face.
