Mike Napoli has huge day vs Pirates -with VIDEO
Boston Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli started in his first Spring Training game of the season on Friday, and he did not let the Nation down. Despite worry about his ailing hip, Napoli fielded his position well, even cleanly fielding a bunt in the first inning of the game versus the Pirates.
The Red Sox, however, paid for Napoli for his bat, not his glove, so it was also great to see that in his first at bat, he delivered an RBI single up the middle to put the Red Sox up 1-0. Click here to see his hit.
It is safe to say that day one of the Mike Napoli experiment went without a hitch. He fielded everything that came his way, and looked good on the field and in the batter's box. Napoli thought he brought the thunder as well, saying
I felt like I got everything out of the way those first two innings. I had seen everything. It was fun. I had a good time out there. That’s the way I want it. Everything felt good, my legs felt good, and I was happy to be in there.
While it is only one game, it's great news to see that Mike Napoli looks ready to fight in red and blue.
