3 Stars of the game, game 12
On a day that will never be remembered for how the Red Sox performed, but instead for the tragedy that occurred at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, the Boston Red Sox completed the sweep of the Tampa Bay Rays. I apologize for not having this out yesterday but given the circumstances of me living so close to Boston, where the marathon route runs right by my campus I chose to take time to not write it until now. Here are your 3 stars of the game from yesterday.
Star 3: Jarrod Saltalamacchia
Salty has been sharing lots of time behind the plate with David Ross this season but was a spark in the teams offense yesterday. He went 1-2 hitting a home run in the 5th inning. He struck out once and walked once. Salty also caught a great game behind the plate catching the 4 hitter thrown by the teams 3 pitchers.
Star 2: Mike Napoli
Napoli went 1-4 yesterday but provided the biggest hit of the day, a walk off double in the 9th inning. His double allowed Dustin Pedrioa to sprint home to complete the sweep of Tampa.
Star 1: Ryan Dempster
Dempster finally got his first win in a Red Sox uniform, pitching 7 innings of 2 hit baseball. He allowed only 1 run and struck out 10 batters. He threw 101 pitches, 63 for strikes.
