3 Stars of the game: Game 13
The city of Boston needed a sporting event to happen to take their mind off the tragedy that has been occurring, the Red Sox were able to provide a happy 3 hours for their supporters. The team was fueled by a 7 run second inning that only had 3 hits in it. The team also walked 9 times in the game but struck out 16 times. Here are the 3 stars of the game.
Star 3: Jonny Gomes
Gomes was extremely patient at the plate today. In 4 AB's he went 1-1 with 3 walks. He saw a total of 21 pitches, and scored 1 run. Gomes scored in the 2nd inning when Jacoby Ellsbury hit a single up the middle to continue the rally.
Star 2: Felix Doubront
Doubront got all the run support he needed in the 2nd inning, it would do that for almost any pitcher who is given a 7 run lead though. Doubront pitched 5 strong innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 earned runs. He struck out 7 and walked 4 batters. He threw 104 pitches, 47 of them for strikes and earned his first win of the season.
Star 1: Mike Napoli
Napoli got the hit that blew the game open for the team, a 3 run double in the 2nd inning. Napoli went 2-5 today with 3 RBI's and 1 run scored. Napoli's hit increased the lead from 4 to 7 runs and took away any hope the Indians had of starting to stage a comeback.
The team is continuing to play fantastically, the have now won 4 games in a row and are 9-4 on the season through the first 13 games.
