4 real? Four at bats that changed the game. Red Sox vs Jays 4-7-13
Game 6: Red Sox win a laugher 13-0 |
1) Top of the first inning, and the Red Sox bats get to work quickly. Jacoby Ellsbury doubles to start the game, then Shane Victorino singles. Dustin Pedroia singles in Ellsbury and Mike Napoli clears the bases with a double. 3-0 Red Sox. It is Will Middlebrooks, however, who puts this one out of arm's reach with an exclamation point opposite field homerun that just clears the "328" feet sign in right field. 5-0 Red Sox.
2) Jon Lester approaches the mound in the bottom of the first inning. When your team puts up a crooked number in the top of an inning, it is so important for that team's pitcher to get your team back up to bat as soon as possible to keep the streak going. Lester did just that, retiring Jose Reyes, Rajai Davis and Melky Cabrera on only eight pitches.
3)Top of the third inning and Will Middlebrooks doubles off of Dickey to left field. Henry Blanco can't control a R.A. Dickey pitch and Middlebrooks scurries off to third. Daniel Nana exhibits a nice piece of hitting and skies a ball to deep right field, but Davis corrals it on the warning track to get the out and score Middlebrooks. 6-0 Red Sox and it's party time in Toronto.
4) WIll Middlebrooks hits two more homeruns in the 5th and 7th inning, and just misses on a forth homerun in the 8th. But fast forward to the bottom of the ninth inning, when a fan runs on the field and tries to shake Will Middlebrooks' hand. Wouldn't you want to congratulate him as well?
Tomorrow, the Red Sox play the Baltimore Orioles in the home opener at Fenway Park.
Jumping on the field to congratulate Will Middlbrooks is NOT a good idea if you aren't wearing a Red Sox uniform. |
