Red Sox weekly preview, week 2
The Red Sox just completed their first week of the season, a 6 game road trip starting in New York and ending in Toronto. The team went 4-2 on the trip and return to Fenway for a 7 game home stand against Baltimore and then Tampa Bay.
Monday:
Wei-Yin Chen vs Clay Buchholz
Buchholz had a great outing in his first start of the season in the Bronx. He went 7 strong innings allowing only 1 run. Chen allowed 2 runs on seven hits and earned a no-decision. The game is at 2:05 and is on NESN.
Tuesday:
Jake Arrieta vs Ryan Dempster
Both of these pitchers did not have a good start to begin the season. In Arrietas outing he went 5+ innings giving up 5 earned runs. Dempster gave up 3 runs in 5 innings of work. The game is on NESN and first pitch is scheduled for7:10.
Wednesday:
Chris Tillman vs Felix Doubront
Tillman didn't have the best opening start of the season, he only pitched 3 2/3rd innings giving up 5 earned runs. Doubront went 5+ innings allowing 3 runs. Both pitchers will be looking for their first wins after earning no decisions in their first games. The game is on NESN and is a 7:10 start.
Friday:
Alex Cobb vs TBA
In the first game against the Tampa Bay Rays the ball will be given to Cobb for Tampa, the Sox have not yet announced their starter. Cobb earned a win in his first outing after 7 1/3rd innings of shutout baseball. The Sox could be giving the ball to Lackey if he is able to pitch. If not able to pitch I assume that the team will call up a starter from Pawtucket. The game is at 7:10 on NESN.
Saturday:
(Expected) David Price vs Jon Lester
In an expected ace vs ace match up in an afternoon game in Fenway could create quite a buzz. Price will be going for his first win, and gave up 8 runs in 5 innings pitched on Sunday. Lester on the other hand is 2-0 on the season giving up 0 runs in 7 innings pitches. The game is at 1:05 on FOX.
Sunday:
(Expected) Jeremy Hellickson vs Clay Buchholz
Hellickson gave up 5 earned runs in 6.1 innings in his first start of the season. He is scheduled to pitch on Monday against Texas. Buchholz is currently 1-0 and is scheduled to pitch in the home opener on Monday. Read above to see his current stats. The game is on NESN and TBS at 1:35.
