How, you might wonder? Well, the Red Sox dragon is one that can do it all. They can burn you with their potent offense.
Their scales are also rock solid, representing their solid defense and pitching, which has only has only allowed 3.5 runs a game according to Sports Illustrated. That is good for 4th in the entire MLB. According to Sports Illustrated, their offense is scoring at an impressive 5.1 runs per game clip, which is good for third in the league.
One pitcher that has gotten the job done is Clay Bucholz, who is 5 - 0 so far with only a 1.19 ERA and 39 strikeouts according to SI. His 39 strikeouts are good for 2nd overall in the AL and 3rd in the whole MLB. His strikeout total is second in the AL only to teammate Ryan Dempster, who has 43 K's so far according to SI.
On offense, the Red Sox are driven by the resurgent David Ortiz, as well as Mike Napoli. David Ortiz has an average of .516 since his return and Mike Napoli is 2nd in the majors in RBIs with 27 so far. So far, this is a team to be reckoned with and look like a team that could be playing into late October (knock on wood).
Next victim? Toronto.
