Jose Iglesias says he will be fine
After a hot start for the young Red Sox shortstop, Jose Iglesias was hit by a pitch early in Friday night's game against the Blue Jays. Initially staying in the game, he was then taken out and replaced by Pedro Ciriaco. Word is, Iglesias did not suffer a major injury and could be back sooner rather than later:
Fans have been pleased with the obvious improvement that Iglesias has shown. Seeing him and Jackie Bradley Jr. provide a youthful spark to the team is somewhat refreshing after the overload of veterans nearly ran the team into the ground the past couple of years. Although the Sox have options at shortstop between Iglesias, Ciriaco and Stephen Drew (who was slated to return soon) let's hope a speedy and efficient recovery for Iggy.
"It feels tight, but I'll be [alright]," Iglesias said. "If the team needs me, I'll be there. You want to be there. You want to be part of another win. All I can do is get treatment and be ready for today and tomorrow."
