Sox lose game and Lackey

The Red Sox lost to the Toronto Blue Jays 5-0 at the Rogers Centre on Saturday afternoon but worse, they may have lost starting pitcher John Lackey for a significant amount of time. Lackey (pictured) injured his arm on a pitch to Jose Reyes in the bottom of the 5th inning. Two innings later, the team announced that Lackey had suffered a biceps strain on his throwing arm; there is no word yet on how long he will be out of the rotation.

Lackey was making his first start of the 2013 season, and his first regular season start since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2011. He had allowed 2 runs on 5 hits and 1 walk while striking out 8.

The Red Sox were held to two hits, a lead-off double by Jacoby Ellsbury in the top of the 1st and an infield hit by Dustin Pedroia in the 9th.
