3 Stars of the game: Game 36

If you want to snap a 3 game losing streak give the ball to Jon Lester. Tonight the Red Sox did just that and Lester gave the team the second best start hes ever had, the first being the no hitter that he threw for the team. Fantastic pitching and a big 7th inning gave the Red Sox their 22nd win of the season. Here are the 3 stars of the game:

Star 3: Dustin Pedroia
Pedroia had another solid offensive performance tonight, going 2-3 and starting the 7th inning scoring fest. Pedroia walked once and saw 16 pitches in his 4 plate appearances. He had 1 RBI, bringing his total to 15 on the year and scored a run as well.
Star 2: Daniel Nava
Nava had the biggest hit of the game for the Red Sox, a 2 run double in the 7th inning to extend the lead to 4. Nava went 1-3 with 4 plate appearances. He had 2 RBI's and scored 2 runs. Nava has played in 30 games this year and has 23 RBI's, safe to say that he is making a pretty good case to play LF for the team day in and day out.
Star 1: Jon Lester
What a night for Lester, a complete game shutout and perfection until 2 outs in the 6th inning. With the win tonight Lester improved to 5-0 in 7 starts this year. He shut down Toronto hitters allowing only 1 hit, facing only 28 batters. After the first inning you could tell it was going to be a special night for Lester, getting 3 outs on 6 pitches. Lester struck out 5 and threw 118 pitches.

Tonight was the kind of performance that the team really needed to get back into the swing of things. The ball will be handed to Buchholz tomorrow who will be looking for in #7 on the year. With this performance it will make Red Sox fans want more and more from Lester, what will you look for in his next start? Leave a comment below or on twitter @ryanthahawaiian.
