Don't Look Away, It's a Close One

I think most people saw this coming. Currently, there is a three way tie between the Sox, the Orioles, and the Yankees. Lets start with the Yankees, shall we? They somehow managed to keep themselves in contention despite having a lot of key players on the bench. How? Well it's because the guys that are filling in are more than placeholders until the 1st stringers get back. Lyle Overbay currently has 6 home runs and 20 RBI's according to Baseball Reference. He might be one of the surprises of the season so far.

Then we have Baltimore, who seem to be on a mission to prove that last season was for real. Last year, they somehow managed to make the postseason after being in the pits for a long period of time. It used to be Yankees, Red Sox, and the other three teams would fight over who came in third. Taht's obviously not been the case in the last couple of years, with the Rays being a legitimite playoff contender for a while and now the Orioles are getting up there.

And we know all about our Red Sox, who have been struggling as of late. Hopefully with last nights game, though, they can start to dig themselves out of the slump and get back on track. That has to continue today against the Jays, who are struggling mightily.

But honestly, I think a lot of people could have predicted this given the fact that the Red Sox completely revamped after last year. The Orioles would be ready to play this year to prove they are the real deal. And the Yankees? Well, they'll always find ways to win because they're...well the Yankees. This is what will happen when one team struggles - the other teams will be there waiting to pounce.
