Lee holds Red Sox offense in check

The Red Sox managed only 4 hits off Cliff Lee as the Philadelphia Phillies earned a split of their two-game series at Fenway Park with a 3-1 win. Ryan Dempster was the hard-luck loser; he allowed two runs on six hits and three walks over seven innings while striking out 4.
The Phillies got on the score board early with Michael Young's second home run of the season in the top of the first inning. Dustin Pedroia singled home Jacoby Ellsbury in the bottom of the inning and Lee and Dempster were locked in a classic pitcher's duel through six innings.
Erik Kratz singled home a run in the top of the seventh off Dempster and Domonic Brown homered of Junichi Tazawa in the ninth to give the Phillies a 3-1 lead.
Former Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his tenth save of the season.
