Matt Moore allowed just two hits over nine innings as he tossed a complete game shutout in the Sox 3-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Park Monday night. For the surging Rays it was their sixth straight victory, and the eighteenth in their last twenty games; they're now tied with the Red Sox in the loss column.
For their part, the Red Sox received a very good outing from rookie Brandon Workman (pictured). Making just his third major league start, he allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks over six innings. He also struck out four.
For Moore, it was the first shutout of his career. David Ortiz and Mike Napoli were the only two Boston hitters to get hits off of him.
