Evan Longoria praises Fenway, fans

A little over a year after Rays’ designated hitter Luke Scott trashed Fenway Park by calling it a “dump,” Evan Longoria made nice by naming Fenway his “favorite place to play on the road.”
According to NESN’s Jen Slothower, Longoria was asked how he felt about the Red Sox home park Monday night and had nothing but praise. He even complimented the fans, saying they “know the game well.” That’s a stark contrast to Scott saying “They're ruthless. They're vulgar. They cause trouble.”
Longoria’s comments probably won’t prevent any bench-clearing Sox-Rays brawls, but it is nice to see someone at least trying to make up for Scott’s blunt criticism. Let’s just hope Longoria and the Rays don’t do too much damage to the place in the meantime.
