Will Middlebrooks slammed two home runs and had seven RBI's as the Red Sox pounded the Colorado Rockies 15-5 at Coors Field. Jake Peavy was the beneficiary of the offensive outburst going six innings for his twelfth win of the year.

The Red Sox ripped Colorado pitching for sixteen hits including four by Jarrod Saltalamacchia and three by Shane Victorino. Dustin Pedroia was the only starter in the lineup without a hit; even Peavy got in on the hit parade with a double.

Middlebrooks (pictured, courtesy of Boston.com) has eight home runs and twenty four RBI's in the thirty eight games he's played since being recalled from AAA Pawtucket.

Peavy was charged with five runs on eight hits and four walks. He struck out five in six innings of work.

Jacoby Ellsbury returned to the lineup after missing sixteen games with a fractured bone in his right foot. He reached base twice with a single and a walk and played three innings in centerfield before being replaced by Jackie Bradley Jr.

The Boston win, combined with a loss by Oakland has the Red Sox with a two-game lead in the loss column over the A's and three over the Tigers for the best record in the American League.
