According to the Red Sox official website, David Ortiz has snagged his sixth Silver Slugger award, which is awarded to the best offensive player at each position. Ortiz had another outstanding year at DH, posting a .309 average, 30 home runs, 108 RBI's, and a .959 OPS. Ortiz was the lone Red Sox player to earn the award this season.

This award was well-deserved for Ortiz, who played a major role in our success at the plate. But that's to be expected - he's been doing this since we picked him up before the 2003 season. This was his 7th season with 30+ home runs and 100+ RBI's as a member of the Red Sox. He has cemented himself as a Red Sox legend and a likely Hall of Famer. This year in particular he has stated his case because he's still going at a high level while he's dealing with questions about his age and whether he's used performance enhancers or not.

So, let me say "Congrats, Big Papi," and hopefully you've still got at least a couple more good years in you.
