Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe is reporting that Mike Napoli has not received a multi-year deal from the Red Sox as of yet. It was reported that they had in fact already offered a multi-year deal, but industry sources said that the Red Sox have only extended the $14.1 million qualifying offer as of right now, which Napoli declined of course. According to Cafardo, the Sox want Napoli and Napoli wants the Sox, but there is plenty of other interest in signing Napoli. The Orioles, Yankees, Giants, Marlins, Rangers, and plenty of others could use Napoli at 1st base and/or DH according to the Globe.

If this were as simple as production, both parties would have come to an agreement, but there might still be some concern about Napoli's hip condition from the Red Sox that is keeping the 2 sides from reaching a deal. But Ben Cherington did say it was unlikely a deal would get done within this week. Click here to check current sports lines. It's clear both parties want a deal to get done, and the overwhelming majority of Red Sox Nation wants to see Napoli in a Red Sox uniform next year and beyond. I think a deal will get done, though, and Napoli will be in a Sox uniform next year.
