Jerry Remy was back in the booth on Sunday after a rough 7 months after his son was arrested for murder back in August.
Per the Boston Herald:
“It was good to be back and do a game,” Remy said afterward. “It felt like my first game of spring training, like it always does — you know, you get all scrambled when all the guys get into the game. It was fine. It felt really good to be back.”
Live from JetBlue Park, “Rem Dawg” didn’t mention his absence or son. Orsillo welcomed viewers saying, “It’s great to have back with me my partner and friend, Jerry Remy.
“What a difference a year makes, Don,” Remy said. “You look back to this time last spring and you had no idea what that club was going to be able to accomplish, and of course, going all the way to the World Series and winning it.”
It didn't take all that long for the pair to settle back into their normal routine after a shaky start from Remy. NESN has a number of solid back ups like Dennis eckersley, but no one can quite replace the chemistry that Remy and Don Orsillo have in the booth. It will be glad to have them back in the booth in the 2014 season and beyond, hopefully.
Here's to many more years of Remy and Orsillo in the NESN booth.
